i don't know what put this song in my head out of the blue but here it is. i wrote this song approximately 1 million years ago. i completely forgot about its existence, but i really like the lyrics and the changes in the rhythms. so here you are.
another thing that happened today was i wrote a song. it is for a super special project that might just be my favorite thing in the world. details soon!
just a quick note today. i have been playing bass in a musical production called heart of steel at the highland arts theatre this week. it's been super fun! there's only two more performances, tonight and sunday night. i am so lucky to get to play with a group of really awesome musicians in this production.
in other news, the cape breton regional library has been putting on teen coffee house / open mic sessions every two months, and they're going really well. there's one tonight and another coming up in may. i encourage you to attend.
finally, a reminder that you can listen to my music in a few different ways, first by clicking the little stick figure in the top right corner, second by visiting the music tab (videos AND downloads), and you can also check out my youtube channel.
i am in a 90s R&B mood today so i recorded a video of blackstreet and boyz 2 men covers. i know this is a thing that is becoming popular lately, but i just want to assure you that my love for these songs, and boyz 2 men in general, is 100% un-ironic. i even went to see them play at the halifax casino about 2 years ago. there's just something about that style of music, and the amazing harmonies and voices. one of my first cassette tapes was my sister's boyz 2 men sampler single with "it's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday" on one side and i think "under pressure" on the other, and a weird little medley of song pieces mashed together.
sorry about the dark video quality, it's a very sunny winter day.
here is a video of "stranger" taken at the songwriter's circle following the play "shit song for some island" at the highland arts theatre jan 10th. playing with john gill and danny macneil was awesome and hilarious.
so i play in this decemberists cover band. then i had a dream with a song in it. i woke up and figured out how to play it. halfway through i realized the song was for the novemberists. i guess we'll just have to become an original band now.
